The Research Assistant provides support on a wide range of nutrition and physical activity evaluation projects within the Nutrition Policy Institute (NPI). This position reports to NPI's Project Policy Analyst and is primarily focused on data collection, processing, and reporting of nutrition and physical activity data.
Duties include survey administration in schools, data entry and coding, cleaning of collected data, and report preparation. Participates in the collection of research interview and/or survey data using prepared survey materials. Data collection is conducted by visiting schools and other community settings to administer paper or tablet-based surveys and conduct physical environment observations including photo documentation. Data collection involves working with individuals from diverse backgrounds; this includes sensitive populations such as school-aged children. The Research Assistant uses data to prepare tables, charts, presentations; develops research tools and process to manage research and evaluation data; drafts original content of research and evaluation summaries of diverse publications, such as newsletter articles or research manuscripts.
The incumbent is required to follow study protocol to ensure data is being collected, entered and managed with a focus on subject privacy, accuracy and attention to detail. Training in the use of data collection materials, techniques of data collection, and data entry and coding will be provided.
This position is 50% variable up to 100% time. This is a Career, grant-funded position.
